Ahead of this year’s re-launch on Thoulstone Park’s incredible eco development in Wiltshire – held over 14th – 17th August 2014 – Off Grid is helping to create and share a brand new One Planet Community Festival model.
Our next level event design will be developed in collaboration with a host of inspiration thinkers and doers, and open sourced to like minded people and projects everywhere from late 2015.
This blog is your invitation to participate:
Welcome to our New Story of the People!
Off Grid is a 500 participant only event – designed for local abundance and global sustainability – where small is beautiful and shared experience is the fabric of community.
This convergence of like minded people and projects is:
– part-TEDx
– part-transformational arts festival
– part-Schumacher College
– part-healing biotope
– and most importantly, a unique networking opportunity for an emerging culture of thinkers, activists, builders, growers and healers.
Curated over a dozen hand-crafted spaces designed for listening and doing, Off Grid will facilitate co-creative work and play in a temporary space where everything is possible.
For more information, please check out these full power line ups in our Off Grid College, Cloud of Unknowing, Plotting Shed, Gaia Dome and Circle of Visions.
ONE PLANET PRODUCTIONS
Behind the scenes, Off Grid is designed according to 10 One Planet principles inspired by Bioregional and WWF.
This unique model will be supplied by One Planet Productions – to be built and tested during Off Grid in 2014 and 2015 and Cloud Cuckoo Land in 2015 – in collaboration with Bioregional, One Planet Frome and the One Planet Council.
Does this interest you?
Well, this is a 100% participatory process based upon principles of collaborative design and open source everything – designed to help create and share tools for self-organisation.
So if you like our ideas, please help us improve and adapt them!
EVENT DESIGN
The People’s Kitchen is our on-site community food project, made for the people and by the people.
Off Grid’s action-packed programme will facilitate shared meal times in order to promote community and encourage networking within the movement.
Because sharing is everything!
The Old Tree Brewery is a micro-brewing social enterprise and start-up supported by One Planet Productions.
Please support our Off Grid bar and brewery – with all proceeds will be re-invested in the planting of sustainable food forests.
The Upcycle is our emerging design for sustainable materials and zero waste.
Based on the principles of circular economics, this is a local manifestation of a soon-to-be global cradle to cradle design (r)evolution.
In 2014 projects include our Bring-Your-Own festival survival kit and the promotion of Thoulstone Sustainable Events Company’s permanent site project – by far and away the most significant aspect of any event’s long-term sustainability.
Camp Light is our dedicated campsite hospitality crew, offering pre-pitched tent hire and solar-power-shower-towers to help you can travel without the baggage!
Meanwhile, Brake the Cycle and The Big Green Bus will help to reduce your carbon emission while getting for A to…Off Grid.
Sign up for our cycle scheme from Bristol or hop on a shuttle bus from Westbury station.
