For the security and integrity of the group and any this is a closed session once the doors are closed and no late entry is permitted. It’s helpful to remain for the full session. We will start promptly.
We promote a blame-free, non-judgemental, ‘good enough’ attitude to parenting.
It’s easy, even quite normal, for parents to feel overwhelmed from time to time. Whether it’s tantrums, the stress of appointments, managing meltdowns, orientating your child or yourself in a fast-changing world of ever-increasing technology – or they relate to our changing experiences of “family” how we cope and how we help our children cope can be very difficult questions to answer in the heat of the moment. When we think about some of these experiences we have with our children we might notice how they are shaped by or echo experiences that we had with our parents, and this might lead us to wonder what we are passing on to our children.
Connect Parenting offer a safe, supportive space and structured programme (Circle of Security) to explore the issues we all face and to see what’s really happening for our children and us, and how successful parenting can flow from that understanding.
In this session we begin thinking about Attachment security and responsive parenting as an introduction to Circle of Security. Whilst we look at some of the science we’ll be focussing on the practical applications and exploring how what we learn can be relevant to our lives and families.
