Transition is over 10 years old now and has steadfastly refused to go away, what was once a very
localised movement is now developing in new and innovative ways. Mike Thomas from Transition
Network will give a brief introduction to how Transition develops followed by an exploration of
how Transition has manifested and scaled up into larger projects with more impact. This will focus
on Liege in Belgium which now has 14 cooperatives that have raised over 5 million euros from
local community stakeholders and the Atmos project in Totnes which is in the process of
developing a community led project that will have workspaces, affordable housing and much more
on a disused Diary factory at the top of town. Find out how these projects came about happened
and what the next stage of Transition is looking like with the current municipalities project that is
supporting new and innovative ways of Transition groups working with Local government to merge
bottom up and top down approaches to the biggest challenges of our time.
Michael is also bringing information about Transition Network which will be available in the Village
Hall throughout the weekend.
