We are bombarded daily with more information on the problems of climate change – Air Pollution kills over 50 000 people in the UK each year, Plastic Pollution is now in each of our bodies as well as our food and water, fracking threatens earthquakes, cancer and the devastation of our countryside, whilst the latest research shows that we urgently need to stop burning fossil fuels to avoid Hothouse Earth. Dr. Larch Maxey and Laura McQuillian, co-founders of new campaign group switchfromfossils.org will outline how we can all support the growing movement away from fossil fuels and address some of the worst crises we face – from fracking and climate change to plastics pollution and air pollution.

Larch has taught, researched and practiced sustainability for 30 years, creating over 20 campaigns & social enterprises including the pioneering Lammas ecovillage (www.lammas.org.uk) and writing over 50 academic and popular publications including books such as The Sustainable University (Routeledge) and Low Impact Development: The Future in Our Hands. His passion is empowering everyone to play their part in creating a sustainable world where everyone flourishes! He love surfing, walking and foraging.
Laura McQuillan BSc
Laura has travelled the world supporting sustainable development projects and has joined Switch From Fossils to tackle the root causes of global issues. Switching to a renewable energy provider is a small action everybody can take to make a big difference. In her free time Laura loves mountain biking, climbing and wild swimming!
