Backyard smithing and toolmaking

NOTE: This is last years line up and no longer current!

with Mark Nicholl

Labels: Crafts and Tech , Workshops and Activities
Location: Village Green

Learn how to use hand tools and an open fire to forge and temper useful tools for bushcraft, carpentry or agriculture from bits of dead automobile .

Mark Nicholl

I am a local organic smallholder (Meadowsweet Farm is off grid at Braunton). My background is horse drawn travelling for ten years( thousands of miles carbon positive), artistic metalwork (BA Hons Art and social context) and traditional crafts( timber framed building, shipwrighting etc) . I would like to bring a small hand powered forge, an anvil and vice this year and demonstrate and educate on the subject of forging tools for bushcraft, agriculture and carpentry from scrap iron. My motivation is to contribute to self empowerment and self reliance in my community.
