We all know that Off Grid Festival is a melting pot of activity. That there are fun, educational workshops, live bands, talks, health and well-being activities and lots more besides. But I’m sure no-one will argue that the most important thing at Off Grid is the people.
That’s YOU!
So to encourage lots of connection, conversation, chilled-out interaction and spontaneous sharings, we’ve made sure there are lots of places you can grab some delicious food and drink, rest your weary legs, hang out and have a good old chin wag.
First up is our friendly Festival canteen, managed by Sophie Docker. Sophie is also running workshops NVC, or non-violent communication, so you can be sure she’ll be bringing loving attention to every meal that comes out of the kitchen. The Festival Canteen is open from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon, serving a range of vegan, gluten-free breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Meal tickets are available for pre-sale or on site and you redeem them when you come and get your food.
For 10 meals at the Canteen, you pay just £44 as an Adult or £22 as a child, if you buy in advance.
What could be more simple?
The Beanbug Coffee Trike will ensure that you get a quality brew every time. Their award-winning, organic coffee is “a deep roast and strong tasting, without bitterness, but overtones of chocolate and hazelnut.” Of course, if coffee is not your thing, they’ll be equally happy to serve you tea, hot chocolate and/ or a sweet treat from their selection of brownies and flapjacks. Sorted.
Tinkers Bubble are back at Off Grid again for 2017. You can’t leave without tasting their refreshing elderflower champagne or the scrumptious apple juice for which they are famous. Pressed by hand from apples grown in their own orchards and pasteurised using a wood-fired pasteurising station, they have three types to suit every taste bud:
- Russet and Bramley (sweet)
- Cox and Bramley (medium)
- Pure Bramley (sharp, but sweet)
And don’t forget to sample our very own Off Grid Beer, created by New Lion Brewery in Totnes in partnership with The Oat Project, a Transition Town Totnes initiative which aims to nurture more locally-grown food.

On Saturday night, Thomas from Trackways will be hosting a special Wild Feast. Trackways are organisers of our ancient crafts village, offering fire making, flint knapping, hide tanning, tracking, nature connection and lots more. Friday’s Wild Feast will be a celebration of food foraged from the Off Grid site, cooked and eaten in the woodland, as the ancestors would have done.
