Build the Change | Off Grid 2014

July 17, 2014 by Marcus Letts 1 Comment

Calling ECO-ACTIVISTS, SELF-BUILDERS, DIGGERS and DREAMERS, TIN-VILLAGERS and OFF-GRID ENGINEERS everywhere.

Will you be available from 8th - 18th August 2014?

Then welcome to Building Man!

In 2014 this non-profit self-build event will invite participants to engage in the co-creation of Thoulstone Park‘s emerging community hub and events space in Wiltshire.

This brand new model is unique and untested, though supported by the experienced crews behind Tangentfield and the Tin Village.

So if you enjoy a good adventure, then join us in this open-ended experiment with new ways of being!

Building Man is a six day co-creative design and build process, facilitating Do-It-Yourself festival-making solutions and workshop-led skills building.

Our mission - if we choose to accept it - is the delivery of a multi-venue Tin Village events space, including a semi-permanent open-air stage and field kitchen complete with cob oven, 12volt solar power and rocket stove installations.

Plus, Building Man will support the retro-fitting of existing on-site structures, to be converted into workshops, a site office, community kitchen and venue.

Check out and feedback on an outline design brief and collaborative budget here.

Buildng Man participants will contribute a £110 fee, which includes a ten day food pass and camping, plus full access to Off Grid Festival.

A handful of concessions remain available for workshop facilitators and experienced site crew.

Off Grid is an outstanding networking and learning opportunity, including a modular course in practical sustainability supported by Shift Bristol.

A full power four day convergence of like minded people and projects, with children under 12 completely FREE.

Longer-term, Building Man is an emerging non-profit, events-based platform for self-building and community-led developments.

We recognise the potential of temporary event infrastructures where everything is possible, which hold space for re-imagination as we build a new culture!

Building Man is developing in close collaboration with Community Juice, an exciting new development company based in the South West.
