Off-Grid Kid’s Village- three days of exploration, discovery adventure and celebration

Open Source Arts three day programme of activities for children between ages 3-14, not that we are prohibiting older children from taking part but we are aware that they will probably feel like they want to just hang out rather than get involved in the core kids programme.

Friday is discovery and exploration day, join us on Friday morning to map the site and discover all the secret places which we will use for our bases and village centres across the weekend.  We will have a naming ceremony for the places we discover and mark our village map with the names of our newly discovered countries- it’s time for den building!  Using what we have and what we can find we will make our bases and shelters! We will also explore how we will make decisions for the whole weekend, working together to harness all our expert knowledge through circle practice, culminating in the lighting of the Kids Village Central Fire- lit by us the villagers to keep us warm throughout an evening of storytelling and music.

Saturday is our day of feats and challenges- adventure with us as we explore scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, feats of strength and challenges for our mental powers- riddles mysteries and manufacturing we will develop an incredible machine for launching water balloons hundreds of feet and culminate in the Great War of the waters.
Saturday night we will breathe new life into the embers of the day before and gather in the fire circle for another evening of storytelling, magic, sharing our tales and celebrating.
Sunday is our day for celebration- joining together and showcasing all the skills we have learnt and created, the celebration parade, feast and final gathering. We will make a giant processionary puppet, learn the songs and village dances which characterise our journey and take it on parade round the whole of Off Grid to showcase our workout.  Later that night we will feast, making food on the fire and sharing it with unto neighbours, finally culminating in the closing fire with stories to take us back into the world and carry our learning with us.

Please join us for these three inspiring days of learning and journeying add co-creating our village life! We will learn vital skills which we need for life supportive and fun setting all on the beautiful Goffin’s Land, making the best of the natural geography spaces as our village terrain.
