Friday sees a unique experiment to wrap up our day long conference on the New Economy.
From 7.30pm in the Off-Grid College, we will be running a version of the popular SOUP events at the festival. Four projects will get to pitch at you, the audience, who will vote on the projects you love most. The winner gets the prize.
We’re still confirming details of this exciting session, but expect a dynamic melting pot of crowdfunding activity as well as a bit of food and drink to oil the cogs…
We’re looking for four projects willing to pitch to our audience of rather gentle dragons. Projects must be community or social enterprises or not-for-profit causes. We’re looking for at least one project based in the City of Exeter.
Attendees will vote on the projects after their pitches and over a delicious post-dinner treat.
Projects will win a mix of audience donations, match-funded by the event and supported additionally by donations from sponsors.
If you have a project you feel to put forward or you wish to be a sponsor of this fantastic event, please get in touch with us to talk about it. Sponsors could support this project by donating up to £50 upwards. Kind thanks to VisionICT (www.visionict.com) and Stir to Action (www.stirtoaction.com) for their generous support to date.
Sponsors will get a mix of a good feeling and good publicity, knowing they’ve supported a fantastic community project in the making!
The Background
Soup events were first set up in Detroit, USA, to promote community based development through crowdfunding, creativity, collaboration and fun.
The Exeter Soup event works as follows:
For a donation of £5 attendees receive a wholesome bowl of soup and a vote and hear from four presentations ranging from art, urban agriculture, social justice, social entrepreneurs, education, technology and more. Each presenter has four minutes to share their idea and answer questions from the audience.
You can find Soup events across the UK, USA and much of Europe.
